Selection Methodology

This page explains how listings get added to 100CK. It is a description of our process, not a scored or ranked evaluation system — we do not currently publish numeric rankings, and we do not use the word "best" to describe a page unless a published, applied ranking methodology backs it up.

How a listing gets added

  1. A business or organization is identified as operating in Chatham-Kent — through public sources, community knowledge, or a nomination submitted through our Nominate page.
  2. Basic information (name, category, contact details, services) is entered from public sources such as the business's own website or listing.
  3. The listing is published with a Listed status. This is the default status and does not require payment.

What we do not do

  • We do not charge a fee to be listed in the directory.
  • We do not accept payment in exchange for inclusion, a better description, or a higher position among organic results.
  • We do not publish invented statistics, pricing comparisons, or rankings about local businesses.

Removal and updates

If a business closes, changes significantly, or a listed detail is inaccurate, anyone can report it through our corrections page. Business owners can also claim their profile to request updates directly.

Verified status

Verified status is separate from initial selection and is described in detail in our verification standards.
